The weekend of 4 and 5 May was hectic and exciting for Club members and the public alike.
On 4 May, Howard Tate, President of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, joined Club President Larry James to open the Club’s 2019 Exhibition. Some 120 photo prints were on show at Cliffe Castle Museum in Keighley. Visitors praised the scope and quality of the images and took the opportunity to vote for their favourites.
The quality was not surprising as Mr Tate was able to announce that the Club had just won the Best Print Club in Yorkshire competition at the Yorkshire Photographic Union’s own exhibition.
Sunday 5 May saw the first of the Club’s free public lectures on photography, also at Cliffe Castle. Geoff Smith ARPS conveyed his passion for photography when he spoke on ‘Striving for Better Photographs’.
Members had their own chance to shine as the first of the Club’s outings took in two stages of the Tour de Yorkshire with challenging weather and fast moving action to deal with.
