Back to school: 1 December

A special relationship has been formed between Ilkley Camera Club and Ilkley Grammar School thanks to initial contacts by Club member Nick Hodgson.

Further talks involving Club President, Larry James, mean that the Club will be giving input to students about practical aspects of photography and the teachers and students of photography at the school will work on a design project for the Club and be judges for two of the Club’s internal competitions.

The Club ran two short seminars at the school on 29 and 30 November. Up to 15 students attended during their lunch break and they showed enthusiasm and a good degree of photographic knowledge. Larry James talked about sports photography and Peter Farmer offered tips about taking photos of buildings and their decoration.

Art and photography teachers Claire Harris and Louise Mortimer have welcomed the initiative and are looking forward to the Club meeting on 7 December when the school’s representatives will judge two of the digital competitions.
