Hot and cold: 22 September 2017

The blazing sun of Rajasthan and the chill wind of Shetland came to the Club last Friday.

Guest lecturer Colin New presented a terrific evening of photography. His insightful commentary on the history and present day social conditions in Rajasthan helped to put the images in context. He also provided a welcome mix of shots of the great buildings and of ordinary people’s lives. Among the latter, images from an orphanage were particularly compelling.

After the break, the Shetland session was quite a contrast and Colin’s photography of the elements at work on the scenery produced some beautiful, often quasi-abstract, images as well as several instances of humour.
