Erica behind bars: 17 November

It’s coming to something when you have to be a prisoner in your own photograph. But that is what visiting speaker Erica Oram had to do when she turned up for a shoot and found no one willing to occupy an historic prison cell. Huddled in a hoody with the shutter release on the timer she managed to make do.

That was just one example of seeing opportunities that Erica related to the Club on 17 November. Her images ranged from landscapes that dealt with harsh light to achieving abstract shots from otherwise uninteresting trees, and from giving high-key lighting treatment on old vines to sneaking some street scenes without passers-by being aware.

Changing focus, this Friday the Club holds its applied competitions with members showing their entries in three categories: nature, travel (sponsored by Ilkley travel specialists TravelWise) and Architecture & Record. Visitors are very welcome.  Meetings are held from 7.30pm to about 9.30pm at St Peter’s Church Hall, Church Street, Addingham LS29 0QS.
