The first two competitions of the new season take place on 5 October. Visiting judge Ken Ainscow examines members’ prints for both General Monochrome and Architecture & Record.
The monochrome category requires images in a range of tones of a single colour. In contrast, a good A&R photograph should be suitable as an illustration in a text book about the specific subject or as a museum record of it. Thus the shot needs complete and sharp detail with true horizontals and neither converging nor diverging verticals. There’s more detail here on the rules for mono and A&R.
Visitors are welcome to come and see the quality of the images and see how their own choices compare to those of Ken. Meetings are on Fridays from 7.30pm to about 9.30pm at St Peter’s Church Hall, Church Street, Addingham, LS29 0QS.
