From A to Z: a photographic journey with Steve Bavill

Photography comes in many forms, and few photographers embrace that variety quite as enthusiastically as Steve Bavill.

On Friday 11 September, Ilkley Camera Club welcomes award-winning West Yorkshire photographer Steve Bavill for a fascinating evening entitled ‘My Journey from A-Z’.

Steve has devised an unusual and entertaining way of presenting his work. Rather than concentrating on a single photographic genre, he takes the audience on an alphabetical journey through his photography, finding an image to represent every letter of the alphabet. The result is a presentation that promises plenty of variety, surprises and, above all, some outstanding photography.

Steve is very much a multi-genre photographer. His work ranges from wildlife and nature, including macro photography and images of birds, to architecture and travel. He has photographed subjects as diverse as Budapest’s Parliament Building, Harrods and York’s Shambles. His interests also extend into industrial and aviation photography, including highly regarded images of the Vulcan B.MK2 XM655, as well as concert photography, light painting and abstract studio work.

That breadth of interest makes ‘My Journey from A-Z’ particularly appealing to photographers who enjoy exploring different subjects and approaches rather than being confined to a single style.

Steve is also a prominent member of the West Yorkshire photographic community. He is President and Competition Secretary of Leeds Camera Club and is active within the Yorkshire Photographic Union circuit, as well as regularly sharing his work and experience with camera clubs and photographic organisations across the region.

‘My Journey from A-Z’ with Steve Bavill takes place at Ilkley Camera Club on Friday 11 September 2026 at 7.30pm.
