Crag victory: 9 March

The battle to gain the shoulder of Kilnsey Crag in the famous Crag race was captured in a dramatic photo by Nick Hodgson. It won him first place in the Club’s Journalism, Sport and Documentary competition last Friday. Second place went to Larry James with an action shot of grass track racing. Ken Phillip took third place with a documentary shot of a Chinese opera star applying fantastic make-up.

In the general colour and monochrome competition, Peter Wilson’s seascape of a moody sunrise gained him first place. Second went to Phil Reeds with a meditative monochrome portrait entitled ‘Jodhpur Child’. Third place went to Julia Horner from Buckden with an eye catching image of a butcher with two pigs heads.

Independent judge Bill Johnson ARPS, DPAGB, provided plenty of encouragement and advice with tips on showing subjects to best effect and well-paced analysis.

The high number of entries for both competitions meant that the Digital Secretary decided to accept only the first two entries from each member. Any third entries were not judged and may be used in other Club competitions.
