ILKLEY Camera Club unlocks photographic talent at Cliffe Castle
The free photography exhibition called Ilkley Camera Club Unlocked opened on Saturday at Cliffe Castle Museum in Keighley and runs until August 28. The exhibition features 120 photographs, many made by club members during the pandemic. The show includes a wide range of styles and genres reflecting the diversity of the membership.
The Club President Andree Freeman said: “We’ve had an extraordinary couple of years though Covid but the club has continued to thrive in spite of everything. I’m thrilled by the quality of the work. It’s a real testimony to all our members”
Subjects range from wildlife, landscapes and architecture to portraits, street scenes and creative images, “We encourage visitors to have their say and vote for the images they like best”, said Andree.
Alison Tetley who was one of the members who pulled the exhibition together said what a good venue Cliffe Castle is: “Cliffe Castle is one of the best places to show our work. The space and light is very good and the museum staff have been great making sure the show is as good as it could possibly be”.
The club, like others across the UK, has had to adapt to new ways of meeting during the COVID 19 pandemic. Meeting online using Zoom has unlocked the potential to attract top class speakers from across the UK and abroad. Meeting online has also enabled the club to expand its membership beyond Ilkley and even West Yorkshire.
The Cliffe Castle Museum is on Spring Gardens Lane, Keighley BD20 6LH and is open: Tuesday – Friday 10-4 Saturday – Sunday 11-4. You are advised to contact the museum to check any possible variations to opening times and access.
