On Friday 25 September, Ilkley Camera Club welcomed Pat Couder to judge the annual digital competition in the Open Colour category for the A C M Duncan Trophy.
A packed Zoom meeting of around 40 participants saw Pat give a wealth of tips and helpful comments as she took the members through a wide range of images that included still life, landscape, street photography and nature. Pat said she had been impressed by the high standard of work submitted and that she had found the judging a challenge with so many good images. “I ummed and arred so much but I just had to go with it. It was a win-win situation”, she said.
The Club learned the way to Pat’s heart was through visual triangles which she said always work well in an image. Members also picked up that she was very knowledgeable about house plants and large cranes on construction sites!
First place went to Len Downes with a powerful image of two musicians at a gig. Peter Wilson’s moody image of a Northumberland beach claimed second place, and Larry James took third place with a rather damp frog. Full details of the awards, with images, are in our Results section.
