Deliver Three of a Kind was Ilkley Camera Club’s competition challenge on 1 March, and Andy Thomas not only produced the winning set with three images of Rydal Water in the Lake District but also his Lone Tree Reflection, backlit with a hazy sun, won overall best image.
Second place went to Skipton’s Geoff Smith who showed that fascinating images can be captured of reflections in glass and metal from modern buildings. Richard Spurdens from Apperley Bridge took third place with three shots of a graceful ballet dancer in mid-air.
This novel competition was judged by the members themselves and, while the scores were being added up by organisers Tim and Sharon Sawyer, member John Fontana gave a brief insight into his style of photography with monochrome images taken around Hellifield Station and the seaside at Cleethorpes as well as some evocative shots using an old-style pin-hole camera.
