There are few photographers who can demonstrate excellence across a wide range of genres but Richard Spurdens certainly did it on 7 February. His sports images were cleverly captured with experimental use of first and second curtain flash and an emphasis on dramatic positioning and getting the sports person’s eyes clearly registered.
Then came coastal scenes both in Britain and abroad with attention to wave forms, triangular compositions and dramatic lighting. Architecture came next with high definition images, often from striking angles.
The second half saw an emphasis on art, fashion and dance photography with a masterclass in using natural and studio lighting, and working collaboratively with models to produce eye-catching and technically outstanding images.
