Leeds Station South Entrance
Three outings have tickled members’ photographic taste buds recently. On 22 May, Peter Wilson led a visit to Granary Wharf in Leeds for an evening of low light photography including the canal and cafes. There was advice on the best view points and tips on special effects like star-bursts from lamps.
On 19 May a trip to Cannon Hall near Barnsley brought the spectacle of a battle between British and French forces at the time of Napoleon. Cannon fire and smoke added to the atmospheric shots members obtained.
Then on 26 May a trip to Bancroft Mill at Barnoldswick provided machinery, metalwork and movement to capture. Helpful volunteers at the Mill made the display very accessible and were happy to pose for photos too.
Meanwhile on 25 May there was a well attended public lecture by Peter Farmer on understanding focus in photography. Ideas covered included the circle of confusion, depth of field and focus stacking.
