Over 300 members of the public took the trouble to cast their votes to say which images they liked best from those on show at our Creative Light Exhibition. During the run of the Exhibition the leading position changed several times but as we entered the final weeks it looked like a consistent leader had emerged. However, in the last few days, with over 70 votes being cast, an unexpected winner surged forward.
There are no prizes for winning in the vote, just the satisfaction of knowing that these are images that struck a special chord with the public. Each voter could select three images with first choice being awarded 3 points, second choice 2 points and third choice 1 point. All the points were then added up to find the favourite images.
There was a surprise when one of the voting forms was drawn at random to discover which voter should receive a gift voucher to use at Annings, the camera shop in Ilkley. The winning form bore just an email address. Club committee member Sandra Burras got in touch with the winner. “I discovered the person lived in Brazil and just happened to be visiting Ilkley when the Exhibition was on.” Fortunately the winner has friends in the area and will be returning in the Autumn so the voucher will be used then. Sandra added, “It’s amazing how far people travel to visit Ilkley. Our visitors’ book shows we also welcomed a family from Malta and one from Transylvania. That certainly made us think.”
