Monty says: 8 November

There was variety and inspiration in full measure on 8 November when visiting speaker, Monty Trent, presented A Route Less Travelled. He encouraged members to ‘make’ photos rather than ‘take’ them, to capture an image ‘about’ a scene rather than ‘of’ it, to explore project work instead of shooting one off images, to look for the relationships in candid shots rather than worry about precise composition, and to rejoice in the serendipity of unplanned events. He also encouraged members to ‘think of the story’ and not get fixated on what an audience might think. As it happens the audience thought highly of the evening and greatly enjoyed Monty’s subtle humour.
