Hobart Twinning

Ilkley CC has started a twinning arrangement with Hobart Photographic Society. It will allow us to collaborate, tap into the knowledge and experience of another active group of photographers and learn more about life on the other side of the world. It may even offer the chance for some face-to-face meetings when members are free to travel in the future.

The main interface is our joint Ilkley-Hobart Facebook page. There are now several albums on the joint Facebook page: birds and animals; architecture; portraiture; event and gig photography; street photography; landscape; creative; sports; macro and close-up.

For shared ‘live’ events, there is a hurdle, obviously, in the time zone (they are 9 hours ahead of us) but we can overcome that! It’s completely voluntary to participate in any twin club arrangements but we will share information occasionally via our club circulars so that all our members can keep in touch with the initiative.

Hobart by John Darby (HPS)

Hobart is the capital city of the state of Tasmania, the southernmost state in Australia (also known as the island state). It is a beautiful city, nestled between a large harbour and Mt Wellington, a mountain of 1200m. Tasmania is a nature photographer’s dream, with diverse areas from alpine regions, typical Aussie ‘bushland’ and temperate rainforest, as well as a great variety of birds and other wildlife.
